Today is Earth Day and Ponca City residents can join the City of Ponca City, Ponca City Energy and the Oklahoma Municipal Power Authority to celebrate.

They will be at Hutchins Memorial Auditorium from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will have give-aways, hands-on activities for the kids and informational handouts from the Kay County Conservation District office.

They will have information from Public Works regarding storm water runoff, Park and Recreation about landscaping to save water, and Solid Waste about recycling.

There’s also an Earth Day Fun Run beginning at 1 p.m. at City Hall. The run is to introduce the Downtown Fitness Trails to the community. Third through fifth graders from Roosevelt Elementary will join the inaugural run. Fitness trail signs are located on the signal boxes downtown.
