Dr. Cheryl Evans rehired by NOC Board of Regents

The Northern Oklahoma College Board of Regents rehired NOC President Dr. Cheryl Evans at Wednesday’s regents meeting at NOC Enid.

Upon conclusion of a short executive session, NOC President Cheryl Evans was rehired with unanimous consent from the regents.  Chad Dillingham made the motion, seconded by Jodi Cline.

Hired in 2011 as the first female president in the school’s history, Evans has just completed her ninth year serving the institution with locations in Tonkawa, Enid and Stillwater.

“Thank you for the confidence you have shown in me,” Dr. Evans said to the regents.  “We continue to work hard for our students during this challenging time.  We have a great team at NOC and I appreciate them very much.”

The regents were complimentary of Dr. Evans and the NOC staff for their work during the Covid-19 Pandemic.

“You have done a fantastic job during these interesting times,” Dillingham said.  “You do a great job in normal times but with all the adjustments that have had to made and made quickly, you have stepped up to the plate and made everything work effectively.  I assure you that does not go unnoticed.”

Regent Chair Dale DeWitt added, “I appreciate each and every one of you (NOC staff).”

The Regents approved room and board rates for the 2020-21 school year.  Rates will remain the same for 2020-21 at both campuses.

Also, the regents approved the rates for NOC property rentals.  There will be a $5 per month raise in rental properties at NOC Tonkawa and NOC Enid.  There will be no raises for facility rentals in 2020-21.

Regents approved a number of policies including a new telework policy for the Employee Handbook added during the Covid-19 Pandemic.

The regents heard and approved the financial report submitted by Vice President for Financial Affairs Anita Simpson.

The board also heard the recommendation from Dr. Pam Stinson, Vice President for Academic Affairs to rehire NOC faculty for 2020-21.

In other business, the regents approved the meeting dates for 2020-21.

The next meeting will be at June 22 at NOC Tonkawa.

Regents attending the meeting included chairman Dale DeWitt, Vice-Chairman Jodi Cline, Chad Dillingham, Stan Brownlee, Michael Martin.
