Ponca City’s Board of Commissioners approved an agreement with Gose & Associates Monday night in an amount not to exceed $69,100 for professional design services for the reconstruction of Highland Avenue from Olympia to Waverly.

City Traffic Engineering Manager Mike Lane said residential development in the area, along with anticipated commercial development, makes it prudent to widen Highland at this time. The plan is to make this a three-lane curb and gutter street with undergound stormwater sewer.

In preparation for the project, a Ponca City Utility Authority pole will be relocated on the north side.

This is the second project improving Highland in the current year budget, Lane said. Another project will improve Highland from Sunset Street to Waverly.
