On Sunday, the Woods County Sheriff’s Office received reliable information of a wanted fugitive possibly located at an apartment complex in Alva, Oklahoma.

According to the information received, Joshua Calvin Fishburn was involved in a shootout with bail enforcement agents on March 7 in Payne County, and was wanted in Kay County on several felony warrants.

Kay County Sheriff Steve Kelley said that after corroborating the information provided, members of the Woods county Sheriff’s Office, Alva Police Department, Alva FireDepartment and  the District 26 District Attorney’s Office went to the apartment complex to search for Fishburn.

In order to ensure the safety of the tenants of the apartment complex, several apartments were evacuated.

After entry was made into an apartment, Fishburn, who was armed with a loaded pistol, and his girlfriend, Britney Nicole Pruett, were located and arrested without incident.

Kelley said that at this time, Pruett faces one felony charge of harboring a fugitive.

The Kay County Sheriff’s Office sent a deputy to transport Fishburn back to Kay County on Sunday. Fishburn has several warrants out of Kay County and Osage County, Kelley said.
