Contract awarded for replacement of Turkey Creek water line

The Ponca City Board of Commissioners on Monday approved a contract for $164,435 for a 30-inch raw water line on Turkey Creek.

This project will replace the 30-inch well water line’s aerial creek crossing at Turkey Creek. This water line, in service for over 70 years, transports approximately 50 percent of the community’s raw water supply from the East Wellfield.
Over the past several months, the water line’s aerial creek-crossing section has suffered several structural issues. Leaks have been temporarily stopped with clamps and metal plate. However, due to the critical nature of this line to the community’s water supply system, this section must be replaced with new 30-inch steel pipe water line.

The bid by Krapff Reynolds Construction Co. was determined to be the lowest and most responsible bid on the project.  It was approximately $11,000 less than the engineering estimate.
