‘Condemn this spectacle’: Gov. Stitt Responds to Pro-Palestine Event Email Sent at OSU

STILLWATER, Okla. (KOKH) — Pro-Palestine groups across the nation are planning a “Week of Rage” on the anniversary of the deadly Hamas attacks in Israel.
The Oct. 7-11 protests, pushed by Students for Justice in Palestine, come as Jewish groups hold memorial events and vigils for the attacks that took place on Oct. 7, 2023.
A “Week of Rage” is planned for students at Oklahoma State University, and an email that outlines the plan for the week has caught the eye of Oklahoma’s Republican governor, Kevin Stitt.
The email, distributed through an ‘okstate.edu’ email address linked to the Psychology Department, shows events like tabling, a vigil, and a bake sale.
“Celebrating a massacre is wrong on every level,” Governor Stitt wrote on X after reposting an image of the email. “We can have policy discussions without giving legitimacy to terrorists.”
Oklahoma State University officials responded to the original poster saying the email was student-authored and distributed by a student group.
“It was not reviewed or endorsed by the university,” the response read.
“As governor of this state, I call on all leaders to condemn this spectacle & stand with our Jewish & Israeli friends as they mourn this painful anniversary,” Stitt wrote in his post.
The first ‘Week of Rage’ event at OSU was held on the library lawn on Monday morning.
