City Manager’s Report

Ponca City Now - June 15, 2023 7:02 am

City Manager Craig Stephenson announced that the 101 Wild West Rodeo in Ponca City was a rousing success.
The City of Ponca City’s recent improvements to the rodeo arena and surrounding area included new bleachers, handicap parking and sidewalks, and gravel and millings to enhance grounds navigation. The rodeo and Ponca City garnered a lot of national and international press, due to both Governor Stitt and presidential candidate Governor DeSantis attending and speaking at Saturday night’s rodeo. During the City Manager’s Report, Cory Goodno, 101 Wild West Rodeo Foundation Chairman, and Tyler Mayse, 101 Wild West Rodeo Foundation Vice-Chairman, addressed the City Commission and thanked the City of Ponca City for the rodeo ground improvements and coordinated departmental services provided by City departments, such as the Ponca City Regional Airport and Ponca City Police Department. The City Commission shared their appreciation to all as well.
Stephenson reported that Stuever Dirtworks, LLC has begun reconstructing portions of Prospect Avenue from the west side of Union Street to Broughton Avenue; 150 tickets are available to celebrate at Wentz Pool and watch the Ponca City Independence Day Fireworks Show on July 4; and a ribbon cutting and open house will be held at the new Public Safety Center once fire suppression system inspections are successfully completed and coordination of communication system vendors is determined.
