City Issues Reopening Information

OPEN UP AND RECOVER SAFELY

Governor Stitt announced the reopening of the economy of the State of Oklahoma in a three phase approach, OURS (Open Up and Recover Safely).  The City of Ponca City will follow the State of Oklahoma’s guidance in this plan, which can be accessed at https://www.okcommerce.gov/wp-content/uploads/Open-Up-and-Recover-Safely-Plan.pdf.

Since the Governor’s announcement of OURS, the City of Ponca City has been gradually re-opening City facilities that were closed due to the COVID 19 issue in March, such as the Ponca City Library, Marland Estate, Marland Grand Home, RecPlex, Park System, and Senior Center.  Plans will be modified as necessary pursuant to any direction received from the State of Oklahoma.  Listed below are Phase 2 plans for continuing to Open Up and Recover Safely:

 

LIBRARY

The Ponca City Library is open Tuesday through Saturday.

The Library is extending hours from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. effective Saturday, May 16. However, the Library is only open to seniors and those with underlying health conditions between 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

The following steps are being taken to Open Up and Recover Safely:

  • Curbside Service is available. Call 580-767-0345 to learn more.
  • Meeting room reservations are NOT available at this time.
  • E-cards, on-shelf holds for staff to collect, programming, and summer reading materials are available online.
  • Three day quarantine of returned physical materials.

Patrons planning on visiting the Library should have no symptoms of illness, and adhere to strict social distancing and sanitizing protocols, including:

  • Patrons should enter and exit through the west side entrance, which is also handicap accessible.
  • Patrons will have their temperatures checked at the door.
  • Patrons are asked to limit their Library visit to one hour, so that others may enjoy the Library as well.  Computer use in the Computer Center is limited to one hour and charging station use is limited to 30 minutes.

 

MARLAND ESTATE AND MARLAND GRAND HOME

The Marland Estate is open Monday through Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The Marland Grand Home is open Tuesday through Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The following steps are being taken to Open Up and Recover Safely:

  • Limit to one entrance/exit, through the main entrance.
  • Six foot spacing markings within the building and at entrance.
  • Limit to number of customers in building, based on the 6 foot social distancing.
  • No event rentals.
  • No guided tours.
  • Signage posted to remind customers to maintain 6 foot social distancing, wash hands, and limit touch points.
  • Provide hand sanitizing stations.
  • Provide increased sanitation and disinfection of common areas such as door knobs, railings, seating, elevator, and restrooms.

 

RECPLEX

Facility Hours of Operation:

5:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday through Friday

8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Saturday and Sunday

Aquatics Area Hours of Operation:

6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday

10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Saturday and Sunday

Kid Zone Hours of Operation: (Reopens Monday, May 18)

8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday

10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Saturday and Sunday

The following steps are being taken to Open Up and Recover Safely:

  • Signage posted to remind customers to maintain 6 foot social distancing, wash hands, and limit touch points.
  • Provide increased sanitation and disinfection of common areas such as door knobs, railings, seating, elevator, restrooms, and equipment.
  • Basketball courts, racquetball courts, hot tub, steam rooms, and dry sauna REMAIN CLOSED to the public at this time.
  • All sports activities and leagues including volleyball, basketball, and pickleball REMAIN SUSPENDED, as well as special events and facility rentals.

 

Entry/Check-in: 

  • Limit to one entrance/exit, through the main entrance.
  • Posted signs advise those with symptoms of illness to leave the facility.
  • Designated floor-marks aid patrons in keeping appropriate social distance from others as they check-in at the front desk.
  • Front-desk staff will use thermometers to measure temperatures of all patrons at check-in. Those with temperatures at or above 100.4° will be asked to leave.
  • Seating in the lobby area spaced to limit condensed congregating and to ensure social distancing.
  • Designated floor-marks to aid Ruby Nutrition customers with social distancing.

 

Rockwall:

  • Posted signs and floor-marks designate appropriate spaces for climbers to occupy inside and outside the climbing area.
  • Only climbers allowed in the climbing area with staff. Spectators must remain behind the railing.
  • Climbers to sanitize hands before and after each climb.
  • Every other color set on the wall to be used during the climbing session.

 

Fitness:

  • Limited in-person fitness programming and classes will resume for some populations on Monday, May 18.
  • There will be no in-person programming for those still under Safer-at-Home guidelines.
  • Designated space for class attendees will be marked to allow for social distancing.
  • Classes may re-locate from studios to larger spaces in the facility to accommodate students and allow for greater social distancing.
  • Instructors continue to broadcast classes via Facebook Live.

 

Aquatics:

  • The lap pool and family pool reopened on May 4.
  • The family pool slide will REMAIN CLOSED to the public at this time.
  • Limited in-person aquatic programming and classes will resume for some populations on Monday, May 18.
  • Increased signage encourages users to practice social distancing, from those outside their family group, while in the aquatics area.

 

Kids Zone:

  • Kids Zone will reopen on Monday, May 18.
  • Kids hands washed or sanitized before entry and as needed throughout their time in the Kid Zone.
  • Family Court reserved for Kid Zone use, in order to allow increased space for play and  use for children between the age of 9 and 12.
  • Toys, equipment, and work spaces cleaned and sanitized twice daily.

 

Ball Fields:

  • Ball fields will reopen, for PRACTICE ONLY, on Saturday, May 16.

 

PARK SYSTEM

The following steps are being taken to Open Up and Recover Safely:

  • Park users are encouraged to practice social distancing.   Social distancing, also called “physical distancing,” means keeping space between yourself and other people outside of your home. To practice social or physical distancing, stay at least 6 feet from other people, do not gather in groups, stay out of crowded places and avoid mass gatherings.
  • AMBUC and Wentz Pools, splash pads, playground equipment, fitness equipment, volley ball, and public restrooms will remain CLOSED to the public at this time.
  • And, the following are NOT AVAILABLE for rental at this time: LA Cann Gardens, Unity Gym, Wentz Camp, park shelters, and stage.

 

SENIOR CENTER

The overwhelming majority of Senior Center attendees find themselves in the category of being over the age of 65 or part of a vulnerable population. Under Oklahoma’s Open Up and Recover Safely plan this group has been advised to remain under the guidelines of the state’s safer-at-home policy. As a result this facility will remain closed to the public at this time.

 

RECYCLING CENTER

The Recycling Center, operated by Supported Community Lifestyles, will reopen on Wednesday, May 13.  However, Supported Community Lifestyles requests that visitors to the Recycling Center ensure that all materials are pre-sorted for expedited service and remain in their vehicles.  Vehicles will be unloaded in order of arrival.
