Circle the State With Song Festival to be Held in Ponca City

Three Ponca City Public Schools will participate in the 22 nd Annual Circle the State with Song Festival Friday evening.

Participating schools are Union and Woodlands Elementary Schools and West Middle School.

This year’s festival for Region “C,” which includes 17 different schools from six counties, is being held at the First Baptist Church in Ponca City at 6 p.m. Friday.

Tickets are $2 at the door for adults and free for 18 and younger.

The Circle the State with Song Choir Festivals are held in several regions around Oklahoma.

“It is a great opportunity for our young singers to sing with children from different school districts," said West music teacher Sarah Long . "It is a wonderful experience for our Ponca City students, and it is a delight to hear this large group of young singers raise their voices in song.”

The goals of the Circle the State with Song are to provide an opportunity for

· Exceptional music students to work with guest choral clinicians on challenging music and for an exciting choral experience with other students

· Music teachers to observe and learn as the clinician works with the students and to share vocal pedagogy, ideas with other teachers

· Students to perform children’s choral repertoire of excellent quality

· Both students and teachers to participate in the 2015 All-OMEA children’s Choir
