Chorale members returning for Homecoming concert with Mr. Moore

Ponca City Now - June 21, 2019 11:39 am

After 23 years, Robert E. Moore is coming out of retirement to conduct the Po-Hi Chorale again.
Chorale members from across the United States are coming home to perform a homecoming concert in the new Ponca City Public Schools Concert Hall.
Moore, the award-winning director of Po-Hi Chorale from 1966 until 1996, has put together the program himself.
With the exception of two class years (2000 and 2009) there is someone in the Alumni Mixed Choir who has sung in ever year of the Chorale’s 53-year existence. There will be more than 200 dedicated Chorale members past and present participating in the program.
These Chorale Alumni are gathering from all over the country at their own expense to sing for their conductor and their hometown.
The concert is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday, June 29,  in the Concert Hall, 600 East Overbrook Avenue.
This concert is the result of the Chorale reunion and concert last year that surprised Moore in celebration of his 80th birthday. CBS News aired the story in a segment of “On The Road With Steve Hartman.”
Tickets are $10 and available for sale at the Ponca City Chamber of Commerce. Tickets will also be sold at the door the night of the concert. CASH ONLY, please.
All proceeds will go to fund a scholarship for a deserving 2020 Po-Hi Chorale graduating senior. Extra donations are welcome.
