Chamber of Commerce: How We Keep Our Power On

Mike Seals - February 17, 2021 11:30 pm

A message from the Ponca City Area Chamber of Commerce:

How can I help keep power going across Oklahoma and in Ponca City? We are in good shape right now in Oklahoma and Ponca City. Here are ways we can keep it that way:

Keep thermostats between 65 – 68 degrees. Bundle up with sweaters and blankets.

Reduce the temperature on water heaters to 120 degrees.

Seal leaks around doors and windows.

Close blinds and curtains to keep warm air inside and cold air out.

Change or clean furnace filters.

Unplug unused electronics and turn off lights when not in use.

Put off doing chores if you are able. If you can, wait until the extreme cold weather passes on doing laundry and washing dishes.

Don’t heat up the oven. Use the microwave, crockpot or toaster oven.

Using your established communications outlets (social media, member updates, etc.) to help spread fact and not fear.

Share information from credible sources and encourage energy preservation.

We will get through this and the Chamber thanks all the people, especially City of Ponca City, that are working to help get us through this bitter cold spell.
