CANDIDATE FILING BEGINS FOR CITY OF BLACKWELL AND THE CITY OF PONCA CITY

Candidates interested in filing for municipal offices for the City of Blackwell and the City of Ponca City will file Declarations of Candidacy beginning 8 a.m. Monday December 4, 2023.

Those who wish to file for a municipal office must submit a Declaration of Candidacy to the Kay County Election Board December 4 , 5 and 6, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

In addition to the Declaration of Candidacy, candidates must also submit a Voter Registration Verification Form, which can obtained from the County Election Board or by logging into the OK Voter Portal at https://oklahoma.gov/elections/ovp.html. Information on the Voter Registration Verification Form must match the information provided on the Declaration of Candidacy.

Candidate filing packets are available on the State Election Board website at https://oklahoma.gov/elections/candidates/candidate-filing.html and at the County Election Board.

Carol Leaming, Secretary of the Kay County Election Board, reminds candidate that Contest of Candidacy must be filed no later than 5 p.m. Friday December 8, 2023 and may only be filed by another candidate for that office, unless a candidate files unopposed. Contests against unopposed candidates may be filed by contacting the County Election Board.

Declarations of Candidacy will be excepted for the following offices: 

      City of Blackwell                       Mayor                      Ward 3 Councilor         Ward 4 Councilor 

      City of Ponca City                      Commissioner No.2        Commissioner No.4 

Declaration of Candidacy forms can be downloaded from the State Election Board website at oklahoma.gov/elections or by contacting your County Election Board office at 580 362 2130 or [email protected]

The Kay County Election Board is located at 219 S. Main St. in Newkirk and is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Monday through Friday.

The Election is scheduled for February 13, 2024 with a runoff date of April 2, 2024 if needed.
