Boogie Woogie pianist Silvan Zingg returning to The Poncan Theatre

Ponca City Now - August 20, 2019 1:46 pm

International Boogie Woogie pianist Silvan Zingg will return to The Poncan Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 5.

The late rock ‘n’ roll legend Chuck Berry called Zingg’s style reminiscent of St. Louis.

“He could be my blues brother,” Berry said.

Zingg is known as “The Boogie Woogie ambassador from Switzerland,” and his style is characterized by a great portion of swing and blues performed with passion, lightness and brilliant quality.

Influenced by vintage recordings, Zingg started to play the piano in early childhood. By the time he was 18, he performed at the Masters of Boogie Woogie Night in Charleston, South Carolina.

Zingg has performed with legends including Berry and B.B. King.

In Switzerland, Zingg is organizer of the International Boogie Woogie Festival each year. The next edition of the  festival will take place May 22-24, 2020, in Lugano.

Tickets for the performance at The Poncan Theater are $20 for adults, and $10 for children ages 5 to 12. A service fee applies to online ticket purchases. All online ticket sales close  two hours before the performance.

For more information, call The Poncan Theatre office at (580) 765-0943. Office hours are 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and one hour before performances, at 104 East Grand Avenue in Ponca City.
