A Grady County judge approved a request to deny bail for 22-year-old Jacob Mayhugh, who is charged with three counts of first-degree murder.
Investigators discovered his parents, James and Patty Mayhugh, and sister, Shayla Mayhugh, shot to death on Saturday morning.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation first named Jacob as a person of interest but later announced a warrant for his arrest. Oklahoma City Police discovered him in Bricktown sitting on a park bench.
His vehicle was found not far away with two clips of ammunition and $750 in cash.
According to court documents filed to support a request from prosecutors to deny bail, Mayhugh confessed to the murders in an interview with OSBI Special Agents.
In that same document, investigators claim new evidence suggests Mayhugh was planning to commit additional acts of violence.
Prosecutors have not formally declared their intention to seek the death penalty, but said there is a “strong probability” it will happen, according to court documents.
