CLEVELAND COUNTY, OK –  A suspicious death investigation is underway in Cleveland County.

Sheriff Chris Amason said a property owner was mowing his acreage in the area near 192nd Ave. NE and E. Rock Creek Rd when he stumbled upon a body.

The property owner called 911 just before 6 p.m. Thursday night to report the discovery.

When deputies arrived to the scene, Amason said they found what appeared to be a man’s body that was in close proximity to a burned out vehicle.

The vehicle was located on private property and the initial investigation determined it was not affiliated with the property or the property owners.

Amason said it appeared the body had been on the property for some time making it difficult to immediately identify the man.

The medical examiner is now working to determine his identity and cause of death.

Meanwhile, the burned out vehicle is being treated as a potential arson case.

The state fire marshal was called to the scene to assist the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office with an arson investigation.
