Boating collision in Pawnee County

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported a boating collision occurred about 5:40 p.m. Sunday at Motorcycle Island at Keystone Lake in Pawnee County, OK.

The patrol said the accident involved a 2000 Yamaha PWC, operated by Daniel Johnson, 31, of Garber, OK. Johnson was not injured.

A passenger in Johnson’s vessel, Coy Week (sic), 31, of Oklahoma City, OK was also not injured.

A swimmer, Darrell Lawson (sic), 61, of Mannford, OK was treated on scene and released with trunk external injuries.

The Highway Patrol’s report stated Johnson’s vessel was approaching the shore at Motorcycle Island. Lawson was wading approximately 100 feet from the shore in 4 feet of water. Johnson’s vessel struck Lawson. The report indicates that life jackets were in use by the vessel operator and the passenger. The report indicates alcohol as a factor in Johnson’s condition.
