The Ponca City Board of Commissioners will discuss a conceptual agreement Monday between the City of Ponca City and Supported Community Lifestyles to operate the city’s Recycling Center on West Prospect. The matter is on the agenda of the board’s work session.

City staff member have been approached by the management of Supported Community Lifestyles about interest in SCL operating the Recycling Center. Currently this facility is operated by Ponca City’s Solid Waste Division and requires a full-time employee to operate the site, as well as additional staff to move product when necessary.

SCL has proposed providing the necessary staff support and labor to operate the facility in lieu of city staff.

City staff members have been meeting with the management of SCL over the past several months, discussing the possibilities and benefits to both parties and necessary changes and requirements for SCL to take over this operation.

This discussion on Monday will provide the City Commission details regarding the necessary modifications to the facility and operations to allow SCL to provide the operational support for this service.

While no decision will be made during the work session, commissioners will provide their input on the concept.
