Blackwell to Host Homecoming Block Party October 2nd

Mike Seals - September 9, 2020 10:14 am

Charles Gerian, Director of Community Development for the City of Blackwell has announced that Blackwell is looking to host a Homecoming Block Party Friday, October 2nd, before, during, and after the annual Homecoming Parade.

“Our aim is to take advantage of the influx of visitors to Main Street and to keep them there with light entertainment, food trucks, and shopping at our local businesses. said Gerian. “We are asking ANY and ALL Main Street merchants/restaurants/etc. to participate in our 2020 Block Part FRIDAY afternoon from about 4 until 7 or whenever the football game begins.”

He continued, “Last year we had a great turn out at our first ever party, but with Saturday being such a complicated time for many (football games, individual plans, independent school events) we decided Friday afternoon would be easier. We are also holding a “Maroon Makeover” Wednesday, September 30 to cleanup Main Street ahead of Friday’s festivities.”

“If you would like to participate in planting flowers, cleaning windows, picking up trash, please notify me at the City of Blackwell so that we may get a rough head count of what to expect,” he said. “Youth groups and other community groups are especially encouraged!”
