Beware of gas bill phone scam, Sheriff warns

The Kay County Sheriff’s Office has been receiving complaints from another obvious phone scam.

This scam is reference your gas bill. The caller is stating you are behind or delinquent in natural gas bill and advising if you don’t pay your bill your gas will be shut off.

The callers may request your account information over the phone to pay the bill or ask to call another number they give you. The phone number that has been showing up on the caller id is the actual Oklahoma Natural Gas phone number so be aware and never give your banking information to anyone over the phone until you have at least verified by contacting the appropriate company.
