Atkins, Lang lead No. 12 Texas women past Oklahoma State

STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) – Ariel Atkins made 11 of 13 shots, including all three of her 3-pointers, and scored a career-high 26 points, Kelsey Lang had her seventh double-double of the season and No. 12 Texas beat Oklahoma State 85-71 on Wednesday night.

Lang had 21 points, on 10-of-14 shooting, and 12 rebounds, and Brooke McCarty scored 16 – including four 3s – and tied a career high with eight assists. Joyner Holmes added 12 points for Texas (17-4, 11-0 Big 12), which has won 15 in a row since losing to No. 1 Connecticut on Dec. 4.

Atkins scored six points during a 12-3 run that made it 51-48 with six minutes left in the third quarter and the Longhorns never trailed again. Atkins converted a 3-point play to spark a 10-4 spurt that made it 67-60 heading into the fourth and nine-straight points put Texas up 76-62 with 6:33 to go. Kaylee Jensen answered with a 3-point play but the Cowgirls would get no closer.

Mandy Coleman had a career-high 22 points, Jensen added 21 and Karli Wheeler scored 15 for Oklahoma State (13-8, 3-7), which has lost six of seven.

Texas shot 57 percent, including 7 of 12 from 3-point range, while outscoring the Cowgirls 16-2 on second-chance points and 42-26 in the paint.
