Arrest made in Newcastle homicide

An arrest was made overnight in the homicide of a man found in Newcastle Thursday evening.

Stephen Wineland (d.o.b. 4/5/1992) was booked into the McClain County jail on a complaint of first degree murder.

The victim of the homicide, who died of a gunshot wound, is identified as Michael Martinez.

Both men resided in the Oklahoma City area. The men were acquaintances.

Newcastle police requested the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation investigative and crime scene assistance with the case. The Oklahoma City Police Department also assisted.

Wineland was arrested after a brief pursuit with police in the area of the 1000 block of SW 30 Street in Oklahoma City.
