ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. — The Arkansas City Police Department arrested an Arkansas City man Monday in connection with the theft of two vehicles at two separate locations in town.
Kyson Pascal Scott, 30, was arrested on suspicion of two counts of felony theft, as well as one count each of criminal threat and battery of a law enforcement officer.
Scott was transported to and booked into the Cowley County Jail in lieu of $8,500 bond through Cowley County District Court in Arkansas City. He since has posted bond and been released.
Officers were dispatched at 8:35 p.m. Sunday for a report of a 2000 Chrysler Town and Country that had been stolen from the parking lot of Dollar General, located at 2411 N. Summit St.
The officers located the stolen car at 10:09 p.m. in the parking lot of the Arkansas City Recreation Center, located at 220 E. Fifth Ave. They discovered a 2003 Mercury Sable had been stolen from there.
Officers obtained video footage from the rec center that showed the suspect stealing the Mercury. They also obtained video of the same person in the Walmart parking lot, walking toward Dollar General.
The suspect was identified as Scott, who was located and questioned about the two stolen vehicles.
He then was arrested for two counts of felony theft, at which time he allegedly battered an officer and made threats to harm the officer once released from jail. Those charges were added to his booking.
The officer did not sustain any injuries as a result of the battery.
