ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. The Arkansas City Police Department arrested two Arkansas City residents Thursday on suspicion of drug charges after executing a drug search warrant.

Brenton Garfield Jett, 46, and Kaylin Marie Nichols, 24, were arrested on suspicion of one count each of felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both were transported to and booked into the Cowley County Jail in Winfield in lieu of $3,500 bond through Cowley County District Court in Arkansas City.

Nichols, who is listed as homeless, remained in custody at the time of this release. Jett since has posted bond and been released from jail.

Officers executed the search warrant Thursday at Jett’s residence, located at 1001 South A St.

The warrant was issued following an investigation into suspected drug use and sales at the house.

During a subsequent search of the residence, items of both drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine were located by police. The two suspects were taken into custody without incident.

A defendant’s guilt or innocence is to be determined by a court of law.
