Steve Vaugh, Oklahoma State Representative visited the Teen Living class at West Middle School.
He spoke to studetns about the importance of individuals voicing their opinions.
The class has been studying child abuse prevention and writing letters to legislators encouraging them to support child abuse prevention efforts across the state.
The class plans to build blue ribbon trees in honor of child abuse prevention.
Vaughn worked with students and taught them the process required for a House Bill to make it to the Governor.
Students authored a mock bill to allow longer lunches at school.
Vaughn also took them through the entire process to get a bill approved.
"We learned that everyone makes a difference and that each individual is important in the voting process," said Amy Hall, West Teen Living teacher. " If something is important to them they know their voice counts."
