Additional time slot available for Grand Chalk Off

Ponca City Now - July 29, 2015 11:44 am

An additional time slot is being added for artists in the much-anticipated Grand Chalk-Off.

The new drawing slot is scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday to accommodate people who work during the day. Registration is now open and forms can be downloaded from www.PoncaCityArtCenter.org.

Space is still available and day-of registration is allowed. Please bring your money and forms to the check-in table located in front on unWined at 217 E. Grand.

Each registrant will receive a free box of chalk at check-in. Check-in times are Thursday from 6 to 7 p.m. and Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. The chalk artists can draw from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 9 to 4 p.m. Friday. All drawing must be completed by 4 p.m. to be eligible for prize money.

Categories and registration fees for the contest are: Professional Artist $20, Amateur $10 and Business $20. Cash prizes will be given to winners in each category. A free kids’ drawing area will also be available on the grounds of the Ponca City Library near the south entrance.

This contest will be judged by local professionals Chris Henderson, Director of Development Services for the City of Ponca City; Chelsea McConnell, Main Street Director and Elaine Armstrong, retired art teacher and professional artist. Judging will be from 4 to 5 p.m. Friday.

Because this is a temporary art medium, this art will only be available to view Friday at the Crazy Days Street Party.
