Accident Kills One just north of Blackwell

According to OHP reports, a fatality collision just after 12:30 p.m. Thursday, on US 177, 1 mile north of Blackwell,  in Kay County.
A 1990 Ford pickup was being  driven by 71-year-old Billy Dean Burrow, of Hunnewell, KS, northbound on US 177 when it left the road way for an unexplained reason, departed the road and struck a concrete culver.  Burrow expired on the scene from injuries sustained in the collision.
His passenger, 53-year-old Stanley Cook, also of Hunnewell, KS, was transported by Life Flight to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, KS, where he was treated and released.
The report indicates that Burrow was pinned for approximately 1 hour and a half until he was extricated by Blackwell Fire Department utilizing the Hurst tool.
