Commissioners approve application for FEMA grant

Ponca City Now - December 29, 2015 12:26 pm

Ponca City’s City Commissioners voted Monday night to approve an application for the Fire Department to seek a Citizens Firefighting Grant from FEMA for the cost of firefighting equipment and training.

Fire Chief Butch Herring said Ponca City has received this grant every year since 2001. If the grant is approved by FEMA, it will be used to replace equipment that is 15 to 20 years old, Herring said.

Commissioners also approved purchasing a brush truck for $114,130 from Weir Fire and Safety. A similar 1995 model truck will be removed from the fleet, Herring said.
