Marland’s Grand Home preparing for Holiday Happenings

Ponca City Now - December 9, 2015 1:54 pm

For a cozy touch from times gone by, visit Marland’s Grand Home from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12, duriing Ponca City’s Holiday Happenings.

Mary Virginia’s Kitchen Candles are for sale. They have a wonderful Christmas scent of days gone by in vintage coffee cups or old coffee mugs.

Christmas Nibbles also will be sold for $2 a bag. The nibbles are small, individual little yummies, from Pecan Tassies, Chocolate Pecan and Cranberry Bark, even Holiday Popcorn.

Whit the Fox, named after oil baron Earnest Whitworth Marland, is hand cut from red clay. Production is limited to 25 and they will be sold for $20 each.

"Whit curls himself against the cool breeze….falls asleep under the pale light of the crescent moon…..evening so quiet that you can almost hear the stars jingle". The story of Whit is included, and each is numbered and signed.

"We Can Build a Snowman" kits will be available during the Holiday Happenings. They can be purchased to make and take, or the unassembled snowman can be taken home.

There will also be a table-top snowman contest and visitors can vote for the winner with their quarters.

Money from the sale of these items will go for the care of Marland’s Grand Home, one of the Ponca City locations listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Santa will be available for photos with children and there will be caroling and art projects for the kids to work on.

Jingle all the way!
