The Ponca City Public School district is sad to report that it has confirmed the death of one of its students on Monday.

The district was contacted by the Ponca City Police Department around 2 p.m. Monday afternoon to report the death of a 13-year-old East Middle School student.

“We are saddened by this loss to our school community," Superintendent Dr. David Pennington said. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends at this difficult time.

"Our district has a Crisis Intervention Team made up of professionals trained to help with the needs of students, parents and school personnel at difficult times such as this. Trained crisis counselors and psychologists will be available to meet with students and staff starting Tuesday and continuing over the next few weeks as needed.”
