Rainy Thanksgiving expected

Thanksgiving is days away and so is this fun forecast of rain, rain & more rain! Ponca City’s Emergency Management Director, Paula Cain, says it will be soggy for the holiday weekend.
"We are in the cold nights/pleasant days mode right now. Take advantage because it won’t be so by mid-week," Cain said.
"The first indication of a soggy holiday weekend will come in the form of drizzle Wednesday night and continue into Thursday morning. This drizzle will give over to rain, possibly heavy rain shortly before midday with a few isolated thunderstorms, which are not expected to be severe," she said .
"Later in the day Thursday the heavy rain will shift to the southeast, but light showers could continue here. Over night the drizzle could become freezing drizzle, but this will be more likely further to the northwest," Cain said .
On Friday more rain is possible, with the heaviest amounts south of I-40.
"Depending on the temperatures, we could see a little winter mix of rain/freezing rain. Late Friday night into Saturday morning will probably be our best chance for winter precipitation, with a rain/freezing rain possible, that could have a minor impact on travel," she said.
There are a lot of rainy days in the forecast. Cain said it could last until you head to work next Monday.
"Despite the repeated mention of freezing rain, there is expected to be very little impact other than spotting slick spots on the road," she said. "Just use caution while traveling and don’t plan any outdoor events. Monitor forecast updates through the weekend to be on the safe side."
