NOYS plans “stay home” fundraiser

Northern Oklahoma Youth Services Center and Shelter, Inc. (NOYS) is inviting community supporters to participate in a novel fundraiser for its emergency shelter for youth who need temporary residential care.

"We know that there are many demands on your time and many family obligations, especially this time of year," said Kelli L. Morgan with the NOYS Family Resource Program. "So instead of fitting us in your schedule, buying clothes and paying for one more formal dinner that you have to attend, we would like to suggest that you have a cup of tea, spend some quality time with loved ones, and remember many youth and families are not as fortunate.

"As you do, consider what you might spend on such a night and how that money might instead make a difference in providing shelter, counseling or other services to homeless or disadvantaged youth."

Northern Oklahoma Youth Services Center and Shelter, Inc. (NOYS) has been in existence for 43 years and is a private non-profit agency governed by a local board of directors. Services provided include counseling, prevention, parenting, substance abuse prevention and treatment services.

"One of our key programs is an emergency shelter for youth who need temporary residential care," Morgan said. "Local support has always been crucial to our success, making it possible for NOYS to obtain state and federal grants and contracts to provide local services."
Local donations are frequently used as matching funds for much larger state or federal grants greatly expanding the value of every dollar raised, she said.

"As you approach end of year and tax season, it may also be beneficial for you to consider Northern Oklahoma Youth Services Center and Shelter Inc. is a private not-for profit under IRS 501 c3. Donations may be deductible and could be considered in your overall tax planning strategies," she said.
