Schedule your club’s programs at Marland’s Grand Home

Marland’s Grand Home, a 1916 historic house museum in Ponca City, can offer your civic group a trip back in time during your next club meeting.

The home houses displays on the Marland family and Marland Oil, and American Indian and 101 Ranch and Wild West Show exhibits. E.W. Marland worked with the Miller Brothers of the ranch and the Ponca Indians in drilling for oil in the region.

The site has assembled several related power point programs which can be scheduled for educational and entertainment purposes as part of an overall organizational group’s meeting agenda.

Programs are as follows:

Mary Virginia’s Trunk, circa 1920

Mary Virginia’s Trunk includes a show-n-tell trunk full of personal items that could have been used by the folks living in and working at the Marland Grand Home during the 1920s era. The presentation is an interactive experience with lots of discussion and sharing.

Henry Hatashita, Marland’s Japanese Gardener

Henry Hatashita was E.W. Marland’s Japanese gardener from 1918 to the years Marland served as our states 10 th governor in the mid-1930s. This presentation talks about and shows photos of Hatashita’s life and works in Ponca City.

Marland’s Grand Home, a Pathway through Time – The First 100 Years

Marland’s Grand Home will celebrate its 100 year birthday in 2016. This presentation tells and shows the history of the home and its inhabitants from 1916 to 2016. The program includes the Marland years, the Moran years, the Paris years and the City of Ponca City years.

The presentations are informative, creative, entertaining and fun. To schedule a presentation anytime in the coming year, call 580-763-4580 or email [email protected]. Programs run from 20 minutes to 40 minutes in length and can be scheduled day or night as time allows.

Marland’s Grand Home is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission for adults is $5 with Ponca City residents admitted free. Seniors and military persons are admitted for $4. Youth, 7-18, are $2 and children under 6 are also free.
