Fire danger considered high

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) – The National Weather Service says there is a very high potential for wildfire in much of Oklahoma, however rain is expected across the state later this week.

The weather service says warm temperatures in the 70s to the mid-80s and dry conditions are expected Monday with gusty winds and low humidity. The weather service discourages burning and says any fires that start could spread quickly.

The only burn ban in effect in Oklahoma is in McCurtain County in the far southeastern corner of the state.

A slow moving low pressure system is approaching the state and is expected to bring heavy rain across Oklahoma between late Tuesday night through Saturday night. Heavy rainfall is possible Wednesday night through Friday night and some flooding may occur.
