Tonkawa schools on lockdown

All the schools in the Tonkawa School District are on lockdown this morning, Superintendent Lori Simpson said.

Simpson said police were in pursuit of a suspect when his car got stuck behind the schools. He ran into a wooded area, and the schools are on lockdown on the advice of the police department.

“We got the call about 8:30 this morning, Simpson said.

Simpson said there are 727 students in the schools and all students are safe. The mid-high and high school students are under the same roof and the elementary school is adjacent, she said.
