A 17-year-old Braman girl died in a collision at 4:11 p.m. Monday on South 29th Street, a quarter mile north of Hubbard Road, about 3 miles south of Blackwell.

She was a passenger in a 1982 Ford truck driven by a 17-year-old boy of Tonkawa. She died at the scene due to massive injuries.

The driver was transported by a private vehicle to the Blackwell hospital, where he was treated and released.

The truck was northbound on 29th Street when it departed the roadway to the right for 143 feet. It then struck a driveway and mailbox, flipped end over end and came to rest on its top. The girl was pinned for about 15 minutes before she was extricated by the Blackwell Fire Department.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said the cause of the collision was inattentive driving. Neither person was wearing a seat belt.
