OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – A new hearing has been set for a man accused in the stabbing death of his father, Oklahoma’s labor commissioner.
A hearing had been scheduled Thursday for 26-year-old Christian Costello. He’s charged with first-degree murder in the death of 59-year-old Mark Costello.
Oklahoma County Special Judge Lisa Hammond re-scheduled the hearing for Nov. 17 at the request of attorneys.
Prosecutors say Christian Costello attacked his father with a knife and repeatedly stabbed him on Aug. 23 at an Oklahoma City restaurant. A judge has entered a not guilty plea for Christian Costello.
His family has said he suffers from mental illness and court records show he’s been in a mental health facility, but defense attorneys say they’ve not decided whether to seek a psychological examination of him.
