“Hometown Teams” exhibit closing on Saturday

"Hometown Teams," the Smithsonian’s Museum on Main Street traveling exhibit program that has been at the Pioneer Woman Museum since July 24, will close on Saturday, Sept. 5.

In addition to the travelign exhibit, "Hometown Teams" kicked off a series of "Let’s Talk About It, Oklahoma!" book discussions. Upcoming talks include “Shoeless Joe” on Sept. 12; “Boys of Summer,” on Oct. 10; “Bang the Drum Slowly,” on Nov. 14; and “Wait Till Next Year,” on Dec. 5. Each discussion will be at 10 a.m. and books can be picked up ahead of time at the Pioneer Woman Museum.

Also on Sept. 12, there will be a public lecture by Alyce Vigil and Tracey Hanshew on the Women of the Wild West Shows. "Women of the Wild West Shows" is a special exhibit which also opened in July.

The museum also will hold a Dutch Oven Cooking class with Luann Waters on Sept. 19. Cost is $20 per person and reservations are required.
