UPDATE: Two students hit in crosswalk at West

Two girls were hit this morning in the crosswalk in front of West Middle School.

The crossing guard was in the crosswalk with his stop sign, and traffic in three lanes of traffic were stopped to allow the children to cross when they were struck by a car driven by a 26-year-old man with a suspended Kansas driver’s license.

The victims, ages 8 and 13, were transported by Ponca City Ambulance to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver, Chase Klinkingbeard, was transported to jail.

The accident was reported to the Communications Center at 7:36 a.m.

The investigation is continuing.
