CUSHING, Okla. (AP) – The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is reviewing the fatal shooting of a suspect by a Cushing police officer.

Authorities say in a statement that Cushing police officers were dispatched to the home around 3 a.m. Sunday on a report that an unwanted person was on the property.

When officers arrived, police say the suspect pulled out a handgun and pointed it at two people.

Authorities say officers gave several commands for the suspect to drop his weapon, but the suspect continued to threaten people nearby with the handgun and disregarded the commands.

The agency says the officer fired one shot at the suspect, killing him.

The OSBI did not release the name of the suspect or the officer, who is on routine paid leave during the review.
