Pottery classes to begin

Ponca City Now - August 20, 2015 2:38 pm

An "Introduction to Wheel Throwing" class is set to start next week. There will be two sessions — one starts Aug. 24 and another Aug. 26. Students may choose either the Monday or Wednesday class option. Each class is six weeks long.

Classes are from 6 to 8:30 p.m. each evening. This class will meet once a week to teach the basics of wheel-thrown pottery.

This class is meant for those who have never thrown on a pottery wheel or for those who have, but need a refresher.

The class is $140 for Ponca City Art Center members, or $160 for non-members.

Students will make, glaze and fire a variety of pottery projects. This class will teach wedging, centering, pulling, throwing basic forms, trimming and glazing. The cost of supplies is included in the class.

This class is designed for adults and teens. You must be at least 14 years old and have a strong desire to learn to throw. Each class is limited to 5 people.

Students may sign up online by visiting w ww.PoncaCityArtCenter.org .
