THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A
* SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF
EASTERN AND SOUTHERN KANSAS
WESTERN MISSOURI
NORTHERN AND WESTERN OKLAHOMA
* EFFECTIVE THIS TUESDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 300 PM UNTIL
1000 PM CDT.
* PRIMARY THREATS INCLUDE…
SCATTERED LARGE HAIL LIKELY WITH ISOLATED VERY LARGE HAIL EVENTS
TO 2 INCHES IN DIAMETER POSSIBLE
SCATTERED DAMAGING WIND GUSTS TO 70 MPH POSSIBLE
SUMMARY…THUNDERSTORMS EXPECTED TO FORM / INCREASE OVER SEVERAL
PARTS OF THE WATCH AREA THROUGH EARLY TONIGHT. SOME OF THE ACTIVITY
WILL INCLUDE SUPERCELLS AND OTHER SUSTAINED STORMS THAT POSE A RISK
FOR LARGE HAIL…LOCALLY DAMAGING WIND…AND PERHAPS A TORNADO AS
THEY MOVE / DEVELOP GENERALLY EASTWARD.
THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 75
STATUTE MILES NORTH AND SOUTH OF A LINE FROM 15 MILES SOUTHEAST
OF KANSAS CITY MISSOURI TO 55 MILES SOUTHWEST OF ALVA OKLAHOMA.
