OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – An Oklahoma City teacher has been arrested on a public intoxication complaint after police say she showed up to school drunk.

According to authorities, police were called to Emerson Alternative School around 9 a.m. Tuesday. Officers say the 55-year-old science teacher was late to class and was sitting in her car in the school parking lot Tuesday when she was approached by an Emerson administrator.

The administrator asked the teacher if she was going to teach, and police say the woman was unsteady as she got out of her vehicle. Authorities said the administrator told officers that she noticed a strong odor of alcohol.

The woman was released on bond Wednesday.

Oklahoma City Public Schools spokesman Mark Myers said the teacher has been suspended pending an investigation.
