Final Pioneer Kids event today at museum

K ids and their families are invited to participate today in the last Pioneer Kids day to say "Happy Trails" for this summer.

“As the end of the summer draws near and the kids are heading back to school, we wanted to send them off with a ‘Happy Trails’ and say thank you for supporting the Pioneer Kids program this summer,” said Pioneer Woman museum director Robbin Davis. “We’ve had so much fun this summer learning about animals, Pioneer school, Native games and lore and learning all kinds of dance steps. We hate to see it end but hopefully we’ve created some fun memories that the kids will remember.”

Activities at the Pioneer Kids Happy Trails event will run from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Pioneer Woman Museum. There will be a "pack your wagon" game where the children will gather items to fill their make-believe covered wagon and run the wagon to stake a land claim in the backyard of the museum.

Children and their family and friends are encouraged to bring a picnic and enjoy the shade trees on the back lawn of the museum.

“We really want this to be a family affair. We hope the kids, their friends and all of their grown-ups come and enjoy a few hours of the summer and make some lasting memories at the museum,” Davis said.

There is no cost for this event, but children must be accompanied by an adult. For more information, contact the Pioneer Woman Museum at 580-765-6108 or [email protected] .
