Oklahoma youth’s body recovered in Sumner County, Kansas

The body of a 16-year-old boy was recovered Sunday afternoon in Sumner County, Kansas, after he disappeared below the Drury Dam Friday night.
Officials with the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office said the boy’s name was not being released at the request of the family.
The teen was a resident of north central Oklahoma. He was swept away in a strong current caused by heavy recent rains.
A second teen was rescued. He was treated at a local hospital and released.
Lt. Jessie Cornwell with the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office said there was an extensive rescue and recovery operation involving several agencies in the area. They included the Wellington Fire Department, Caldwell Fire Department, South Haven Fire Department, Corbin Fire Department, Sumner County emergency management along with the Sumner county Sheriff’s Office
