OU officials support alcohol ban at games

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – Top University of Oklahoma officials say there are still no plans to offer widespread alcohol sales at sporting events following a policy shift by longtime rival Texas to allow fans to imbibe at football games.

University of Oklahoma president David Boren said Wednesday that the sale of alcohol doesn’t create "a very good game day environment." Alcohol sales are allowed in the suite level at football games but are barred elsewhere.

Athletic Director Joe Castiglione told the Tulsa World that top officials haven’t even discussed the idea.

The University of Texas announced last week that it would allow beer and wine sales at football games. The Longhorns had a losing 6-7 record last season.
