Regents to consider tuition hikes

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – The Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education is meeting to consider tuition and mandatory fee increases of about 5 percent at most colleges and universities in the state.

The regents will meet Thursday in Oklahoma City to give final consideration to the increases, which already have been approved by the governing boards of the different university systems. The regents also will consider the budgets for each institution for the fiscal year that begins July 1 and elect officers for the coming year.

The University of Oklahoma Board of Regents on Wednesday approved raising tuition and fees by an average of about 5 percent at OU, Rogers State University in Claremore and Cameron University in Lawton.

Similar increases have been approved at other state colleges and universities.
