A Ponca City man was injured Sunday afternoon in a motorcycle collision south of Shidler in Osage County.

Scott Hampton, 54, was transported by Shidler EMS to Eaglemed and then was airlifted to St. John’s Hospital in Tulsa. He was admitted in stable condition with head, leg and trunk injuries, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Hampton was driving a 2004 Kawasaki Vulcan motorcycle northbound on State Highway 18 about two miles south of Shidler. The OHP reported he attempted to negotiate a curve and departed the roadway to the right, striking a ditch, causing the motorcycle to strike a telephone pole.

The vehicle came to rest 20 feet from the pole and the driver came to rest 15 feet east of the pole.
