Earthquakes rattle parts of northern, north-central Oklahoma

STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) – At least three earthquakes have rattled parts of northern and north-central Oklahoma.

The U.S. Geological Survey says the most powerful, a magnitude 3.2 quake, was recorded about 3:30 p.m. Friday about five miles northeast of Stillwater in Payne County. The temblor was recorded at a depth of about three miles.

Earlier Friday, a 3.0 magnitude quake was recorded shortly before 3 p.m. about seven miles north of Helena in Alfalfa County. That quake was recorded at a depth of about five miles.

Finally, a 2.8 magnitude earthquake was recorded at about 10:30 a.m. about 14 miles west of Perry in Noble County. It was recorded at a depth of about 2.5 miles.

No damage or injuries were immediately reported. Geologists say damage is not likely from earthquakes below magnitude 4.0.
