Summer School for Ponca City Public School students starts June 1.

Elementary summer school will be held at Lincoln Elementary and is by invitation only. Only third grade students who were not proficient on their OCCT test and need additional support in acquiring reading skills and a small number of kindergarten students who need additional support to prepare for first grade will attend summer school.

The high school is also providing some summer school options including on-line semester courses.

There will be no summer school for 6 th , 7 th , and 8 th grade students this year.

Detailed information about each level is listed below. There is no charge for elementary summer school.

Elementary Summer School (Grades kindergarten and third)

Lincoln Elementary School

Monday through Thursday
8-11 a.m.

Breakfast: 7:30 a.m. – 7:55 a.m.
Buses will transport students from all elementary sites to Lincoln

Summer School curriculum will consist primarily of guided reading, close reading, and wide reading. Kindergarten students will work on letter recognition, rhyming, sight words and letter sounds using Payne Phonics.

(This is by invitation only for third grade students who need additional support in acquiring reading skills and a small number of kindergarten students needing additional support to prepare for first grade.)

Senior High Summer School (Grades 9–12)

Credit recovery only

Transportation will not be provided

The Senior High School 2015 summer school is limited to students who need to earn extra credit for graduation only. Enrollment has been determined by credit needs with priority given to seniors and juniors. All credit recovery classes will use Edgenuity/E2020 online classes. It is important that students have access to Internet outside of the school. For information, contact the high school main office at 580-767-9500.

Breakfast will be Served from 8–8:25 a.m.

On Fridays, students will travel to Pioneer Tech and will be exposed to math in real life situations/future jobs. The final Friday, students will travel to the NOC campus in Tonkawa and learn how their high school career impacts attending college.

Wildcat Academy

The Wildcat Academy Alternative School will conduct interviews for prospective students Mondays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. during the month of June. Interviews will be held at WCA, and all students must be accompanied by their parent/guardian. No appointment is necessary. Spaces are very limited. Students will be notified by letter the first week in July on whether or not they have been accepted.
