Hundreds Rally At State Capitol Against Green Energy Initiatives

Attorney General Gentner Drummond and several Republican lawmakers spoke at the State Capitol Tuesday morning as part of a rally hosted by the Freedom Brigade.

Hundreds of attendees were at the rally, which began at 9:30 a.m. on the second floor of the Capitol.

Event organizers say they aimed to send a clear message to Governor Kevin Stitt that green energy initiatives are not working for Oklahoma.

State Representative Jim Shaw, one of today’s speakers, argues that green energy efforts have failed to deliver returns on investment and are burdening taxpayers through rising utility rates.

“If you believe in the state of Oklahoma and you believe in the oil and gas industry as being the foundation of that for generations, this green energy’s goal is to eradicate the oil and gas industry,” Shaw said.

House Democratic Leader Cyndi Munson offers a contrasting perspective, advocating for a balanced approach to energy in Oklahoma that includes green initiatives alongside traditional oil and gas.

“Being mindful on where we can grow our economy, where we can provide better jobs, higher-paying jobs that will allow families to take care of their basic necessities—regardless of whether you are a Republican or Democrat, that’s what we should be thinking about: those types of solutions,” Munson said.

Organizers say they encouraged attendees to learn more about green energy initiatives and their impact on the state.
